I feel like the end of summer just slams me with endless To Do’s every single year. No matter how easy I try to make it, it seems like things there is never enough time to get everything done. Luckily, we’ve decided that for the next year we’re going to try our hands at homeschooling so that has opened up a bit more time for us since public school started today here. B will be doing Kindergarten and the boys will be doing preschool. I’ve researched all summer looking for the best curriculum to fit out families needs and now that I’m starting to get my ducks in a row I’m excited to get started. That being said, I love the fact that we are not back in school just yet! We spent the first month of our summer packing and moving, then July we spent unpacking and setting up our home so August is for fun! We won’t be starting our school year until after Labor day. Our summer days are still being spent sleeping in, playing outside, and staying up late!
Speaking of staying up late, that is what I will be doing tonight because we leave for our second ever family vacation tomorrow and I’ve done absolutely nothing!! I’m not normally this bad at procrastinating when it comes to trips but for some reason I just can’t make myself start packing all the stuff that we/the kids will need. We are heading to a camp ground/resort that’s about an hour away near Land between the Lakes in Kentucky. It will be the kids first experience of camping. We decided to ease the kids into it by staying in a camping cabin this first go around. We will have a kitchen, beds, fridge, grill, bathroom and shower. I probably should have said “camping” first. I’m sure some of you are reading this thinking…. That’s not camping! You would be right, it’s not real camping. To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of sleeping in a tent in the elements, unlike my husband. However, the kids have been begging to camp, fish, and explore so off we go! We also invited my parents and brothers, so all of us (6 adults and 3 kids) will be in tiny cabin for 4 days. This should be fun! This is assuming we make it there because I’m yet to pack any clothes or bedding. I better get on that!
This will be our last hoorah before our school year begins after Labor Day. I have high expectations that this trip will give the kids an outlet for all the pent up energy they seem to have lately. It seems that they have been using all their free time to play and fight. So much bickering has been occurring that by the time my husband gets home from work, I am totally done. We are going to camp and explore until they have no energy left to fight. I cannot wait to post pictures and review of the resort we’re staying at. Pray for an awesome end of summer trip!!
